Key Points
The Pump Out Kit is an accessory available for removing rainwater from our Sentry Quickberm secondary spill containment. The Pump Out Kit was developed after many inquiries from customers on how to completely remove rainwater from their berms.
With the standard drains and gravity fed Petro Pipes there will be somewhere between ½”-1” of rainwater left in the bottom of the berm. Evaporation will take care of some of that but in areas with high annual rainfall, you may be stuck with water in your berms for long periods of time. One can now remove the remaining water left in a berm below the drain height on the sidewall by utilizing the Pump Out Kit without concern for releasing hydrocarbons to the environment.
Caution must be used when using this accessory. The flow rate of the Petro Pipe must be monitored as the filter median solidifies over time. Eventually the Petro Pipe will solidify completely allowing for no flow rate. Operator observation must be used to ensure that the pump does not overfill the container and release unfiltered rainwater to the environment.
How It works
-
Attach suction hose with strainer to inlet port on pump
-
Attach discharge hose to outlet pump and insert free end into Pump Out Kit bucket
-
Remove plug from bulkhead fitting on the side of bucket and connect the Petro Pipe
-
Connect Pump leads to terminals on a car or any 12V battery
-
Make sure the ball valve on the Petro Pipe is open
-
Turn on pump switch on the back of the pump housing and pump rainwater into the bucket
-
PetroPipe canister will drain water but solidify with contact with hydrocarbons
-
Once the flow rate through the Petro Pipe is significantly reduced or stopped order a replacement Petro Pipe replacement canister.
